The wife and I are expecting our first geekling to hatch sometime around Valentine’s Day. I’m really excited to become a father, and I don’t share any of the worries that others have expressed about raising a geek. In fact, I think I might encourage the little one to be a geek – let me explain:
To me, a “geek” is someone who is so passionate about something that they know intimate details and facts that most people wouldn’t bother learning. I’m a geek about many, many things, and I don’t see it as a bad thing. If you’re going to do something, give it your all, right? If our geekling expresses desire in anything, I’d be remiss to not encourage them, right?

I’m in full agreement with you, liko. I think geekiness, especially as you’ve defined it, is a most desirable trait. It is the acceptance and indulgence of passion. Can’t be anything wrong with that.
